So it was a very exciting week at Millionaire Chess. I thought I would have more time to blog during the event, but there was just too much to do and so little time.

Congratulations to Wes So who won the $100,000 prize and to Roy Robson who took home second place with $50,000. Susan Polgar must be proud of her team!! Maurice Ashley and Amy Lee did a phenomenal job putting the event on. I know they had very few resources, so with what they were able to accomplish, it was amazing!

The tournament was very tough for many of the higher level players. It was fierce competition and very LONG games over the course of 5 really intense days. The highlights for me were the Live Broadcast in the viewing room. The commentary was top notch and very engaging. I only wish that it was publicized more for those at home to watch. I think people at home missed out. The blitz tournament went over really well with all the players with the excpetion of the time between rounds. There was a pizza party for the kids that included bughouse and that was a very nice touch. It was great to see all the kids let loose.

The security was very tight. There were metal detectors you had to go through every time you entered the tournament hall and you had to check in your cell phone. There were plenty of staff available during the tournament and the ability to check your pairings online prior to your round was extemely helpful. I am looking forward to next year's event because if the first event was this good, the next one will only be better. I also met some really great people. Maurice and Amy really created a community feel with their Millionaire Chess App.

In addition to the tournament, I was able to enjoy Las Vegas with Evan. We visited friends, walked around the strip and took in a show. It was a great location for Millionaire Chess.

I also met some incredible people and am so happy to have been a part of the first of many Millionaire Chess Events.

Nice work!
