Tales from a Chess Mom

My name is Jennifer Vallens.  Ever since my son Evan started playing chess at 6 years old, I have been  hooked. Chess is not only a part of my life now, but it is my life.  I run a chess club at my son's school and I have started a local chess newsletter called OFF da ROOK.  Check out previous editions on the NEWSLETTER tab.  I take my son to two chess clubs a week and several tournaments a year.

 

I created this site to share my journey. 

 

Chess is cool people!  I am making it my mission to help bring it to the masses.  People don't realize that you do not need to be smart to play chess....but in fact, chess makes you smart!
